Finding purpose after loss
Faraz Shahshahani says “something just clicked” when he saw a commercial for the Heart & Stroke Lottery. Several years after his father passed away from a heart attack and stroke, Faraz was still grappling with the loss.
“When I saw the commercial, I thought, ‘Why haven’t I done this sooner?’ So I picked up the phone and called. And I vowed that from this day forward, buying tickets is going to be an annual thing and a family thing.”
But the North York resident never imagined that that first ticket would be so lucky, netting him Grand Prize #3 - $130,000. “This is actually the first thing I’ve won in my life, ever,” Faraz says.
While winning is sweet, it’s the chance to fund life-saving research that will make him continue to support the Heart & Stroke Lottery. “I’d spend $30,000 of my winnings just to buy tickets for the next 30 years.”
